A Kitchen island in the “Warm Brutalism” Style
This exceptional showroom kitchen at the werkhaus near Rosenheim combines architectural clarity with raw natural beauty. At its center stands an impressive, monolithic natural stone kitchen island that perfectly embodies the “Warm Brutalism” trend. The fusion of state-of-the-art kitchen technology with authentic materials creates a space where cooking, living, and design flow seamlessly into one another.
Kitchen Architecture and Design
The centerpiece is an approximately 5-meter-long island made from solid shell limestone slabs. The untreated edges—known as the natural stone crust—emphasize the stone’s original, organic character. A particularly refined detail is the washbasin precisely milled directly into the stone.
An integrated black steel shelf introduces industrial accents, while the dining table—seemingly growing out of the island and crafted from white-limed oak—adds warmth and balance.
Materials and High-End Technology for a Dream Kitchen

(Professional cooktop with Tepan grill, XBO steam ovens, and refrigeration systems)
The 8-meter-tall unit wall combines maximum storage with refined design precision. A centrally integrated natural stone niche visually echoes the materiality of the kitchen island. Two BORA XBO steam ovens and the Eggersmann 15-square shelving system merge into a striking ensemble that unites design excellence with functionality.
